That’s Crazy: Turn Around
part1 Text: Jonah 1:1-3

Last week we talked about how we as human beings do crazy things, for crazy things, with crazy habits, for crazy people, in a crazy world. We talked about how the word “crazy” itself is defined as to be out of the mind, to be disarranged, to be just a little bit looney and koo koo. But the question is tonight, just as it was last thursday: Have you ever been out of your mind for Jesus, in the way He was and is out of His mind for you?

Last week, the title of the Bible Study was,My Blessing Is In The Fire!. Last Thursday, we simply talked about how, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego had crazy faith, out the fire and in the fire. Hebrews 11:1 says: “Faith is the substance of things hoped for, and the evidence of things not yet seen!”. We also talked about how Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego had a crazy positive attitude toward their worship, towards their praise, towards God, towards life in general. We talked about how faith produces praise, and how praise produces blessings.

But this week turn Bibles to the book of Jonah chapter 1 verse 1-3
Under the Holy Spirit, I would to title this Bible Study: It’s Time 2 Turn Around Slap the persons hand beside you, and say: U Going the wrong way!

My First Point: You Got 2 Listen 2 God!
As human beings, we run from things that we think we cannot handle, things that we think we have frights and fears about, things that we think that are just over the board and over the top. Some of us in this room right now, never even attempt to think outside of the box. Simply because we’re always worried about what somebody else is going to say, what somebody else is going to think, and somebody else is going to do. But to tell you the truth, it’s not about what other people say, think, and do. But it’s all about God, and what He tells you to do. You got to listen to God! Somebody point to the person beside you and say: Listen 2 God!

Jonah was sent by God to the city of Nineveh. Jonah did not want to go, so he ran away. The reason he didn’t want to go was because he simply didn’t like them people, he could not stand them. Nineveh was the capital city of the Assyrian Empire. One of the most powerful and violent empires of that day. The location of Nineveh now is morden day Iraq. But to tell you the truth, Jonah was scared.

*Somebody Say: He Was Scared!

But tonight I ask you the question, “What’s Your Nineveh?”. What’s your excuse for not doing the will of God? Why are you acting crazy? If you were put in Jonah’s shoes, would you obey God, or would you disobey God? Would you run from God, or would you run to God? Would you turn away from your destination, or would you turn to your destination? What would you do? It’s your choice! But let me tell you something, some of us are like Jonah. God has given us a purpose, God has given us a crazy plan, and God has given us a divine assignment. But the problem is some of us are so caught up on what the world thinks, forgetting that it’s not about the world, not about us, but all about God.

One of the funny things I like about this text, is that Jonah thinking that he was running away from God, was actually still running to God. Jonah could run but he couldn’t hide. Because he forgot that God is omnipresent, meaning God is present everywhere at the same time. And some of us forget that God is omnipresent when we have sex with no ring on left hand, on the finger directly next to the pinkey. Some of us forget that God is omni present when we talking junk, and starting rumors. Some of forget that God is omnipresent when we do stupid stuff, for stupid people, for stupid reasons. Some of us forget that God is omnipresent when we act one way one day, and another way on some other day.
*Somebody slap the persons hand beside you and say: Did You Forget?
Everyday God says, “Can You Hear Me Now?”, but it’s are choice to make the right decision. (It’s Your Choice!)

In the Bible Study we talked about how the city of Nineveh was a city full of destruction. And how that was one of the main reasons why Jonah tried to ignore God. The main reason in why he turned around. But the question is: What’s your Nineveh? What? or Who? is keeping you to move foward in your life. (Get in a group and discuss the topic, “What’s Your Nineveh?”.
